CLEAR PVC Y Strainers with True Union Connections FPM O-Ring
Discounted pricing for our Clear PVC Y strainers with true union connections for ½" to 2" size pipelines are listed to the right.
The true union design allows removal from the pipeline without breaking down the pipeline connections. You can access the valve components by simply unscrewing the assembly nuts and lifting out the valve assembly.
The pricing table includes 1/32" perforated PVC screens; you may substitute another perforation size for no additional cost at the time of order (specify 1/32", 1/16", 1/8", 3/16" perforations). If you prefer stainless steel or mesh lined screens, please refer to the pricing table at the bottom of this page to determine the applicable cost adder. For spare/replacement screens, please call for pricing.
You can install plastic strainers into alloy pipelines, however it is suggested that you also include plastic pipe at least 10 pipe diameters long on both the inlet and outlet sides of the strainer to account for the different thermal expansion rates of alloy and plastics, pipe vibration and loading forces.

Clear PVC Y strainers with true union connections usually ship within 2-3 days after receipt of an order. If lead time is critical please contact us and we'll confirm the lead time required.
The differential pressure calculator (below) can be used to estimate the clean differential pressure for your specific application. The recommended fluid velocity minimizes the effects of valve closure and pump start-up or shut-down.
1) Select strainer size.
2) Input the design flow rate in GPM.
3) Input the Specific Gravity of the fluid if other than water.
4) Select the Viscosity if other than water.
The corresponding clean differential pressure chart will update automatically to reflect the data input.
NOTE: The inlet velocity should be ≤ 5 FPS and the maximum clean differential pressure should be ≤ 2 PSI.
Likewise, the reason for the clean differential pressure limitation is to maximize the time between basket cleaning. Once the differential pressure is ≥ 5 PSI the basket should be cleaned.
