Carbon Steel Tee Strainers

tee strainer

Model 91 custom fabricated strainers are for applications that require features not offered with our cast steel simplex strainers.   The Model 91 Tee Strainers are a very compact form of a simplex strainer with the added advantage of being able to be installed horizontally or vertically. Tee strainers can be provided with an ASME code stamp, have a flanged vent and/or drain ports, special coatings or practically any other customization because they are custom fabricated to the design criteria submitted.

The screen design for Model 91 tee strainers is convoluted, thereby increasing our open area and reducing the pressure drop across the strainer. We only list the 150# and 300# pressure class versions online, however we can provide in 600# and higher class if required.

The most common connections types are listed in the table below (ANSI flanged and butt weld); if you require a different connection type, please use the inquiry form and we'll advise accordingly.

You will note we offer two different basket chamber cover designs, the bolted and quick-opening style.  The bolted style has 4 or more studs and nuts for retaining the cover.  The quick-opening style has a hinged cover and utilizes swing-bolts for quicker access to the vessel.  Although we do offer a quick-opening cover for the 300# class tee strainers, we do not list them online, so inquire about this if desired.

It is important to check your clean differential pressure, some of the smaller sizes have lower capacities than their basket style version (Model 90 simplex strainers).  You can calculate the approximate clean differential pressure drop by selecting the strainer connection size, inputting your flow rate (GPM), inputting the specific gravity if other than water (sg of water = 1) and select the viscosity range if other than water (SSU of water = 30).  Click "Update" to refresh the data and be sure that the clean differential is ≤2 PSI for the intended basket retention.

The lead time for custom fabricated tee strainers is typically within 8-10 weeks for readiness for shipment after receipt of your order, although is could be less if you order the standard configuration and for smaller sizes.  Whenever lead time is critical, please contact us and we'll provide a specific lead time estimate based upon the complete description.
