Style GFV Simplex Strainers

O.C. Keckley cast iron style GFV simplex strainer

Style GFV cast iron simplex strainers are designed for higher pressure applications than appropriate for models 30R and 72.  The GFV simplex strainers have a bolted cover because using a quick-opening no-tools style basket chamber cover is inherently considered dangerous.

Style GFV simplex strainers are available in 2" through 6" sizes and have an angular cutaway basket design to keep the clean differential pressure to a minimum.

  • Bolted cover
  • Heavy wall construction
  • Large capacity baskets
  • Threaded drain
  • Perforated stainless steel basket
  • Satisfies government specification WW-S-2739 (Supersedes MIL-S-16293)
  • Basket perforations from 1/32" to 1/2"
  • Basket mesh from 20 to 200
  • 304SS or 316SS Baskets
  • Vent valves
  • 1/4" FNPT Taps
  • Magnetic basket inserts
  • Pressure differential gauge & switch

The GFV style is also available in cast carbon steel, 316SS and bronze and referred to as SGFV, SSGFV and BGFV respectfully.  The GFV series tends to be the style offered for higher pressure requirements (250#, 300# and 600#) although they are available in the 150# pressure class also.  Sometimes if the model 72 isn't in stock or if a bolted cover is desired we will offer the equivalent style GFV.

The reason we do not list the 150# variations of the GFV are because they generally have a lower flow coefficient (Cv) value thereby tend to have a higher differential pressure for a given flow.  This translates into increased frequency of basket cleaning.

We've taken a unique approach to this website.  We list our strainers by material in order from smallest to largest and in addition to discounted pricing we provide links to their outline drawing and a calculator embedded within the webpage to help ensure the strainer you choose is properly sized for the intended application.

Of course you can always contact us for immediate assistance and the best way to receive assistance is to complete our application oriented inquiry form.
